- For each activity, Tom uses the following structure: Title, expected outcome, science concepts, science education concepts, materials, points to ponder, procedure, debriefing, extensions, abundant Internet connections, and answers to procedure and debriefing questions.
- Points to ponder features quotes by famous historical figures that relate to the concepts at hand. The debriefing section includes When Working With Teachers and/or Students and When Working With Teachers approaches. The extensions tend to expand student thinking beyond purely scientific issues in order to make science more relevant to the world around us. The next three pages feature brief descriptions of selected activities from each book.
