Multicultural Context

• If you have students from other cultures who are learning English as a second language, you may have to make some effort to understand the norms of the cultures they are coming from. Some cultures don’t value the individual’s voice like we do and they may consider ideas and opinion property of the culture and not in need of citation. These students will probably need more help to understand the process described in this book. As with American students, subjective free writing is the foundation.
