The Rise of the New Groupthink – Collaboration May Be Over Rated

Solitude Is Out of Fashion.

  • Our companies, our schools, and our culture are in thrall to the New Groupthink, which holds that creativity and achievement come from collaboration rather than individual effort. The problem is that research tells us that people are more creative when they enjoy privacy and freedom from interruption. Studies also show that spectacularly creative people are often introverted. Introverts are comfortable working alone and solitude is a catalyst to innovation.
