From 58 Pounds to Thriving by Chelsea Roff (@ChelseaRoff)
- Chelsea is a nationally-recognized author, speaker, and yoga instructor. She serves as Managing Editor for the Chopra family’s online media platform, Intent, and writes regularly for The Huffington Post, Yahoo, Care2, and the Yoga Journal. She wove together a powerful personal story of overcoming anorexia and cultivating practical tools for developing resilience. Chelsea is also the first-born daughter of a lesbian couple, a former foster care kid, and primary caregiver to a parent with dementia. In her case, she looked healthy after losing weight, but she wasn’t. After dropping below 60 pounds she started losing her vision. She was hospitalized for 18 months and became a ward of the hospital. Although she wanted to die, it was the caring doctors and nurses that gave her the will to live. Sometimes we need to be reminded by other people that there is a reason to live. It’s human and ok to need other people. She got free therapy for someone at the hospital and tried yoga where she found community and started to give back. Her three keys are: will to live, community, and service.
