9/14 Update
- What’s left of my stuff is all in my new apartment. It’s a bit like camping with a mattress on the floor. Yesterday afternoon a fireman came to put signs on the building saying it was condemned. I convinced him that he had the wrong building. He returned later and hung the signs on the building across the street. It seems the water in my building came within an inch of the electric panel. One more inch and I would still be homeless. I finally gave up trying to save my beloved couch and bed pedestals. I actually felt relieved. It only took a few days to go from denial to acceptance. Being responsible for stuff is a burden.
