Final Take
- CohortTracker™ is a well-designed, high-performing product, that requires almost no effort to learn. Depending on your provider of computer services, it should be affordable, and very cost effective. It offers abundant flexibility, and has room for growth as the authors are responsive to customer input. For example, I would like to see a category for students who leave to non accredited homeschooling. Some states count these as dropouts, while other states do not. The magnitude of this part of your cohort should be of interest to most administrators. I would also like the dropout category divided in two. One group would be “left not enrolled in another school.” The other would be “verified dropout.” A supergroup combining all at risk categories might be useful for small schools who don’t have enough in any category to count for NCLB sanctions. I’m sure there are other ideas that customers can think of that will lead to further improvement of a product that has already hit a real sweet spot with version 1.0.
