4. Leveraged Resources & OpenCourseWare
- As of 2009, MIT had 1,890 classes available online for free. MIT is not alone in this effort and there is a parallel mostly volunteer effort to translate online courses into many languages. Time, place, and money are no longer serious constraints. Even people enrolled in courses can supplement their learning and help their instructors this way. Developing counties no longer need rely on out-dated donated texts. With people all over the world taking free courses from kindergarten to graduate school, it seems only a matter of time until online learning becomes more acceptable on one’s resume. Some think that international cooperation in this effort may promote world peace.
